Coming Soon: New Mobile Computer Labs!

Digital collaboration, remediation, and enrichment can all be achieved through crafted learning experiences using technology (Eliasson et al., 2024). You may not know this, but the U.S. Department of Education (2024) specifically outlines how technology implementation should look and the ways learners benefit from its effective use!  Technology integration, within the context of a traditional face-to-face classroom, can be a catalyst for different types of learning but can also be difficult for teachers to implement without some flexibility. We realize that these experiences are often bested delivered within the context of your regular instruction.  These learning experiences require students to have access to devices and software that align with their instructional goals and your classroom routines. The overarching goal is for students to actively use technology to communicate and express their learning.

To facilitate this goal, the technology department has purchased two mobile computer labs. These “labs” consist of two charging carts that contain 30 devices that can be used by a specific classroom or a team of teachers. An example of what the mobile cart looks like is shown below.

For our younger students we have a collection of iPads while laptops have been purchased for older students. You are free to use a lab individually in your classroom for whole group activities or as a supplement within small group instruction. Additionally, we have purchased software to support the use of these devices. This new software includes a digital repository (SafariMontage), interactive content (BrainPop), and collaboration software (Google for Education). Please feel free to explore these resources on your own or join our weekly collaborative meeting for more information.
